Cetilar Racing by Villorba Corse enters the World Endurance Championship 2019-2020
Cetilar Racing by Villorba Corse, the all-Italian team supported by PharmaNutra S.p.A. with is brand Cetilar®, is set for a new, ambitious campaign, called FIA WEC.
After two years spent in the European Le Mans Series with the Dallara P217 LMP2 car, the 2019-2020 World Endurance Championship is the next logical step for Cetilar Racing and its 100% totally Italian spirit. After resolving his neck issue Andrea Belicchi rejoins Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto, the same with whom he finished 9th and 7th in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2017. Belicchi have been replaced last year from former Brazilian Formula 1 driver Felipe Nasr, to whom the team is very grateful for the job done.
Looking forward the 2019-2020 FIA WEC season opening, Cetilar Racing will hit the track for tests at Le Castellet, Barcelona and Monza, entering as a “wild card” the 4 Hours race at the home circuit during the second round of the ELMS Championship. The next goal will be the 87th edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans, scheduled for the 15th/16th June 2019. The Italian team already asked its admission as the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) will unveil the official entry list on February and March.
That will lead the way to the 4 Hours of Silverstone, early on September, first of the next FIA WEC season that will end in 2020 with the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2020 after heading to Fuji, Shanghai, Bahrain, São Paulo, Sebring and Spa-Francorchamps.
Once again the Cetilar Racing challenge will be marked by Dallara, as the partnership with the Varano de’ Melegari-based manufacturer has been consolidated. Not by chance the movie about the famous French “Marathon” participation of the team has been presented last December at the Dallara Academy space. The team will show off some experienced peoples like Amadio, sporting director Christian Pescatori, track engineer Nicola Olivan – who previously worked in the Formula 2 Championship – and chief engineer Loris Rossetto.
“We are ready for a new challenge and we are motivated for that”, driver and main supporter of the Cetilar Racing project Roberto Lacorte commented, “We’ll face a one year and half challenge, splitted in two parts. The first one will end at the this year 24 Hours of Le Mans, although our presence in the race clearly depends on the ACO. It also includes the participation at the ELMS Monza round, where we could keep in contact with our numerous fans. Since September we’ll be focused on the WEC, that is an end point for our path in the endurance world. We are strongly determined to show well and we are also happy to have Andrea Belicchi in the team again, as he got well after the last year problem. His presence and experience are very important for us, both from the technical and human side”.
