The 7th Edition of the International Multidisciplinary Course on Iron Deficiency (IMCID)

International Multidisciplinary Course on Iron Deficiency 2019 Roma

A truly international success characterized by a multidisciplinary approach: this is the outcome of the 7th Edition of the International Multidisciplinary Course on Iron Deficiency (IMCID), the International Congress dedicated to iron deficiency and organized by PharmaNutra S.p.A. in co-operation with Zambon, its commercial partner for the markets of Spain, Portugal and Brazil.

Physicians and researchers from all over the world took part in the seventh Edition of the Congress, which took place at the “NH Collection Vittorio Veneto” in Rome on March 8 and 9, with a total of more than 400 guests, 25 speakers and 18 posters displayed. The primary objective of IMCID (www.ironandeficiencycourse.com) was to analyze effects and results of iron supplements in various clinical settings: pediatrics and neonatology, obstetrics, gynecology, gastroenterology, nephrology, oncology, internal medicine and PBM (patient blood management). Important new scientific findings and in-depth analyzes related to iron deficiency were presented. Within these settings, the scientific research of PharmaNutra has enabled the development of the Sucrosomial® Technology, an innovative patent that has resulted in the SiderAL® line of iron supplements containing Sucrosomial® Iron. These products offer better tolerability and high bio availability, as documented by a large number of scientific studies published over the last few years and presented also during the seventh Edition of the Multidisciplinary Course on Iron Deficiency.

The Congress opened on Friday, March 8, with a report from the Scientific Committee. Its members include Prof. Sandro Barni (Director of the Department of Oncology and Emeritus Head of the Hospital of Treviglio), Prof. Manuel Muñoz (Department of Surgery, Biochemistry and Immunology of the University of Malaga and member of the Board of Directors of NATA) and Dr. Germano Tarantino (Chief Scientific Officer of PharmaNutra S.p.A.).

Andrea Lacorte, President of PharmaNutra, said: “The International Multidisciplinary Course on Iron Deficiency is one of the most important events of the year for PharmaNutra. One of the main differences versus the previous editions was the much greater international attendance. It is not easy to find a congress attended by people from so many countries. Iron deficiency is a problem that many medical specialties have in common. It is surprising to see how many specialists and researchers from all over the world are working with Sucrosomial® Iron in diverse fields and, above all, to ascertain the validity of the findings of their studies. Research does not mean anything unless it satisfies all the players involved. This means that both physicians and users alike have to be satisfied and fully trust research, which was the undisputed central feature of the International Multidisciplinary Course on Iron Deficiency”.

Germano Tarantino, Chief Scientific Officer of PharmaNutra, said: “The seventh edition confirmed the results of the research and scientific studies we carried out over the last year and resulted in the acknowledgment of the efforts of our R&D Department. Sucrosomial® Iron has now become reality and is studied and appreciated throughout the world. This is reflected by the more and more international attendance to ICMID and increases our satisfaction with the work that we are doing”.
