151 Miglia – Trofeo Cetilar postponed to 2021
The Regatta Organising Committee has officially announced the cancellation due to the health emergency. The sporting event is postponed until 2021, but thanks to the contribution of PharmaNutra the edition will be transformed into a virtual regatta dedicated to solidarity.
The 151 Miglia – Trofeo Cetilar, one of the most important sporting events of the year for PharmaNutra and its Cetilar® brand, has also been officially postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 emergency.
The offshore race organised by the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara di Pisa, the Yacht Club Punta Ala and the Yacht Club Livorno, with the collaboration of the Port of Pisa, the Marina di Punta Ala and the main sponsor Cetilar®, was initially scheduled for the end of May on the classic Livorno / Marina di Pisa – Giraglia – Isola d’Elba – Formiche di Grosseto – Punta Ala route.
For the first time in the history of the 151 Miglia – Trofeo Cetilar, the organisation has reluctantly had to take the difficult, yet unavoidable, decision to cancel the event following the latest government guidelines, which state that the current restrictive measures will continue until at least the beginning of May. More than 250 boats which have already registered for the 151 Miglia – Trofeo Cetilar 2020 will be able to choose a full refund of the entry fee, or to be automatically registered for the 2021 edition.
Furthermore, the Organising Committee decided to take action to help the doctors, nurses, technicians, medical staff and volunteers, who have been on the front line in the fight against the virus for two months now. In fact, 50% of the registrations which have already been paid (and those still to be paid) will be donated to the Italian Civil Defence. This donation will be covered entirely by PharmaNutra S.p.A., which in recent weeks had already communicated its willingness to actively support the National Health System by providing SiderAL® H and ApportAL® products free of charge to the intensive care units of all the hospitals involved in the emergency.
“Deciding to cancel the eleventh edition of the 151 Miglia was not easy, but there was no option: the return to normality will be slow and gradual and will require the commitment of us all. Furthermore, at an economically difficult time, it did not seem appropriate to hold an event that should not only be about sports, but also about joy and fun. We will see you on the water directly on 30 May 2021, for the 12ᵗʰ edition: it will be the most beautiful ever, of this we have no doubt”, explains Roberto Lacorte, President of the YC Repubblica Marinara di Pisa and Vice President of PharmaNutra S.p.A., historic sponsor of the 151 Miglia.
