4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring: Cetilar Villorba Corse wins the Gentlemen Drivers Trophy
The Cetilar Villorba Corse team, supported by PharmaNutra, ended the challenging third round of the European Le Mans Series 2018 this weekend. Last Sunday at the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring, the crew formed by Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Felipe Nasr, challenged the direct rivals of the LMP2 class at the wheel of the Dallara P217 Gibson.
The endurance race disputed in Austria has revealed some pitfalls for the Italian team, after a promising start (constantly fighting for the top 5) we bet on the arrival of the rain, but then it didn’t happen. The three drivers gave their all, maintaining regular performance and they finished at the eleventh place overall, a result crowned by the award as best crew with a “Bronze” rider at the finish line (Roberto Lacorte was in fact the fastest among the gentlemen drivers in the Friday’s Bronze test).
After the Austrian event, where Cetilar Villorba Corse also managed to get into the top 10 in the official tests as best Dallara in qualifying, now the team led by Raimondo Amadio already looks at the next round of the ELMS. The fourth stage will be at Silverstone (UK) and is already promising to be one of the most important race of the season. The English challenge is scheduled for mid-August, coinciding with the World Endurance where the team will bring on the track some new aerodynamic solutions.
The team principal Amadio commented after the return from the Austrian event: “First of all we are satisfied for the victory in the Bronze Pilots trophy. Once again this recognition clearly confirms Roberto Lacorte’s huge commitment in such a high-profile professional championship. Then in absolute, at the Red Bull Ring we were hoping, and I think we deserved it, to collect something more, especially for the excellent first part of the race. But luck did not help us, the fact that the expected rain, on which we had bet, did not arrive. Now we are already at work for the next stage. Small aerodynamic developments are coming on the front part of our prototype and we are aiming to restart well from Silverstone and to keep on pushing until the end of the season”.
