Waiting for the start of the 151 Miglia – Cetilar Trophy 2018
The ninth edition of the 151 Miglia-Cetilar Trophy will start with the first series of events scheduled for the weekend from 25 to 27 May at the Port of Pisa, a preamble to the actual regatta that will start on the afternoon of Thursday 31 May.
Three events are scheduled between Friday and Sunday:
• the M32 151 Cetilar Trophy, second stage of the M32 catamarans Cetilar Sailing Series, three days of thrilling regattas near the coastline with great names of international sailing on board the spectacular M32 catamarans;
• 151 Bimbi a Vela, the event established by the YC Repubblica Marinara of Pisa to introduce the kids to the knowledge of sea and sport (Saturday 26 starting at 15:30);
• 15.1 Run (always on Saturday, starting at 17), the first edition of a non-competitive running race, with a special contribution dedicated to “Donating Life Onlus” and the possibility of choosing between three different racecourse (15.1, 7 and 3 kilometers).
The Port of Pisa is the theatre of these important events, the structure directed by Simone Tempesti, historical partner of the 151 Miles-Cetilar Trophy (as well as logistics base of the departure together with the Port of Livorno), will become for three days the focus of all activities linked to the 151 Miglia, an attraction not indifferent also for the local people that will have the opportunity to breathe sport at the highest level. “It is a challenge that we gather with pleasure and satisfaction, making available our structure for what we hope will become a regular appointment before the 151 Miglia-Cetilar Trophy”, says Simone Tempesti. “The hope is that citizenship responds with satisfaction and comes to visit us during the weekend, also because it doesn’t happen every day to be able to experience so many sporting and social events of this level, concentrated in just one location”.
In addition to the sporting aspects of the weekend, the didactic function of this preamble of the 151 Miglia-Cetilar Trophy shall be underlined, above all through the 151 Bimbi a Vela initiative: an afternoon dedicated to youngsters with lots of things to do to experience sailing thanks to a simulator that will make you feel the sensations of sailing on board an Optimist dinghy, spaces dedicated to games and drawings, regattas of remote-controlled models, contests and snacks offered by Rigoni di Asiago, one of the partners of the regatta. There is also the possibility to discover the summer sailing school of the Yacht Club Repubblica Marinara of Pisa, the association that organizes the 151 Miles together with the Yacht Club Punta Ala and with the collaboration of the Yacht Club Livorno, Port of Pisa, Marina di Punta Ala and the support of the partners PharmaNutra, SLAM, Rigoni di Asiago and Acqua dell’Elba.
In the meantime the registered yachts at the regatta – which this year will support the Women’s Sailing Cup & Academy project in favour of AIRC, the Italian Association for Cancer Research, the registration fee is regularly donated to charity by the Organizing Committee – have already become 212: an already considerable number that presages an extraordinary show, when on the afternoon of May 31, the fleet will meet off the coastline between Livorno and Marina di Pisa for the departure of the race.
